Was ist Pre-Cert? Das softwarespezifische Prä-Zertifizierungsprogramm (Pre-Cert), wie es im Digital Health Innovation Action Plan der FDA beschrieben ist, soll zur Entwicklung eines neuen Regulierungsmodells beitragen. Dieses Modell soll eine schlankere und effizientere Regulierung der softwarebasierten Medizinprodukte ermöglichen, welche von Herstellern entwickelt werden, die bestimmte Qualitäts- und Organisationskriterien der FDA erfüllen.
Dieses Konzept setzt somit den Fokus in erster Linie auf die Betrachtung der Software-Hersteller und nicht primär auf das Produkt, wie es aktuell bei traditionellen Medizinprodukten der Fall ist.
Digital Health: US-FDA’s working model 1.0 for the Software Precertification (Pre-Cert) Program enters pilot phase
What is Pre-Cert? The Software Precertification (Pre-Cert) Pilot Program, as outlined in the FDA’s Digital Health Innovation Action Plan, will help inform the development of a future regulatory model that will provide more streamlined and efficient regulatory oversight of software-based medical devices developed by manufacturers who meet certain quality and organizational criteria of the FDA.
This approach primarily aims to look first at the software developer, rather than primarily at the product as it is currently applied for traditional medical devices.
